ShowCase History

On Friday, December 10, 1982, Ted Jackson, then President of the Oregon Council of Rock and Mineral Clubs and member of the Rogue Gem and Geology Club (Grants Pass), officially presented a handsome showcase to the state of Oregon. The purpose of this showcase is to display the wide variety of beautiful rocks, minerals, and gemstones that come form the state of Oregon.

Since that time the member clubs of the OCRMC have rotated the display.

Current Capitol Showcase Display

The current display in the Capitol Case is being exhibited by the Willamette Agate and Mineral Society.

The showcase can be viewed Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you can't make it to Salem, here's a few pictures of the current showcase display:(pictures)

NOTE - An effort has been made to constrain the size of the graphic file while also maintaining a resolution that allows a decent print quality. Also, you should be aware that, depending on you connection speed, accessing the picture archive and downloading graphic files can take some time.
