Council Meeting Minutes

The spring meeting in Rickreal on April 21st was attended by Patty Amos and Dick Parks representing Columbia Gorge Club ( they are also from MHRC ), Lenora and Troy Smith, Stuart and Claudine Chrupalo from Umpqua Club, Vickie Johnson from WAMS Club, Phil Knutson Pres of WAMS, Aaron Currier (pres) of NARG, John and Brenda Buford and Jim Heiman (dir), Roger Gary, Terry Innes, and Don Innes. I hope I didn't miss anyone.

Old Business

• Aaron Currier from the NARG paleontology Club commented on the fact that we need to have some professional people that the State Park people respect as well as us rock hounds trying to preserve our hobby.
• We had a discussion on beach access. Aaron said NARG and involved geologists and OMSI members were involved in negotiations with the State Park people to give them the ability to save fossils found on the beach. Taked from beach the limit of 1 gallon of material taken from beach, sand, gravel or rock seems to be unreasonable. NARG has a very interesting web site. I recommend all rock hounds sign in and read the interesting information about fossils and other items. They are certainly on our side in this issue.
