The summer OCRMC meeting coincided with the Far West Show in Coos Bay. It was held at the Swoya Tennis Center and President John Burford called the meeting to order at l:00 p.m.
Introductions
Bob MacManiman introduced Clyde Pike from Lower Umpqua Gem & Lapidary.
Rod Becker was introduced as the representative from Tualatin Gem Club.
Beth Heesacker was introduced as the new Treasurer. She replaces Taylor Hunt who resigned.
Old Business
President John explained what the Oregon Council does and how to check with BLM in your area for information. Discussion followed.
Ellnora Young read a report she received about Obsidian 250 lb limit. If they get more they have to have a permit. Discussion followed about claims. No claims in the obsidian areas.
Officer's Reports
Treasurer report: Beth has not had time to go thru her papers but she and Taylor changed the account to Wells Fargo which is more reasonable.
Don Young reported on a Recreational Meeting to be held in Bend on August 21st. It is a Recreation Access Form - to discuss the current political climate, current access issues and possible solutions.
John Burford discussed the web site and explained what to do to get up to date information.
Nominating Committee
The committee will report at the October 2nd OCRMC meeting.
Oregon Council Trophy
The trophy will be awarded at the Portland Regional Show. All OCRMC representatives should encourage the members of their clubs to enter a case in the competition. Cases must include material only material from Oregon. Judges will be picked the morning of the show. Case Schedule: No report
Next OCRMC Meeting
The fall OCRMC meeting will be held on October 2, 2004 at Portland Regional Show. Lenora Smith will find a place to hold the meeting.
