John asked for OPLAC information. Lenora
passed information around about Litigation mailers and a Range magazine. She
reported about areas being closed and that the Mountain State Legal Foundation
is bringing suit in hopes of getting lands opened. The Mountain State Legal
Foundation web site is www.mountainstatelegal.org The Golden Eagle passports
will be for a lot of the areas.
Prineville Claims are given up and have gone
back to BLM. Encouragement was to have clubs take out claims in that area but
rock clubs would have to do assessments on the claims.
Don Young checked
with BLM about Fossils and Vertebrae. Forest Service is trying to stop all
fossil collecting.
John reported the Spectrum mines (sunstones) can be
collected by appointment only. You can call Chris Ross for appointment
#775-772-7724 he is the owner of the mine. It is next to the Dust Devil mine 14
miles N. Of Fields.

which is not correct ,both come from the correct web site which is
www.oregoncouncilrm.org John has been checking on the problem. Taylor asked John
about mailing the bulletin by e-mail and saving postage.
It was discussed
about the vacancies coming for Bulletin Editor and Secretary. It was suggested
that John Burford would head the Nominating Committee. No one would volunteer to
be on that committee. It was suggested that maybe Liz Cardiel from the Tualatin
club might serve, Secretary Marian will contact her.
Bernie Paris asked
again about the lights at the Capitol case. Nothing has been done. Marian will
call Geri Esch again to see what has been done and also to find out who has the
case in since Oregon Agate went out in March 2003
Roy Ford discussed
about BLM in the Vale area and suggested writing letters to find out what is
proposed. Don Young discussed about the Knapper groups at Glass Butte coming
from Seattle and Nebraska and loading pickups and trailers with obsidian. They
leave big holes and don't close them. That is what is hurting the collecting
